Morning at the beautiful Enkoji temple and udon nudles

Early morning in Kyoto. Love the morning light.

There are so many shrines and temples everywhere in Japan. The buildings are all pretty much the same but it is the gardens that make them unique and attractive. These pictures are from the random shrine we passed on our way.

I love the hills surrounding Kyoto. Big cities are fun to visit but villages and smaller cities that are closer to nature are always what I enjoy the most.

On the way to lunch…

This was one of my favourite meals in Japan, udon nudles at Myoudai Omen Ginkakuji Honten. Nudles are served with a broth that you can add spring onions and sesame to, a side of cooked vegetables and a tempura. The layer of the batter surrounding fried vegetables was very thin giving just a bit of a crunch. The whole dish was very light and subtle in flavour.
