Does it mean that I am getting old because I get excited to go to a market
to shop for food?! Or maybe it’s just a stereotype…yeah, let’s believe that! :D
Anyway, I really enjoy going to the market! Food, mainly vegetables are
just beautiful to look at but it’s also the relaxed atmosphere that I like. I
feel like people are enjoying their shopping experience more, taking the time,
as oppose to shopping at the store where you more or less just mechanically
fill up your basket with the usual stuff.
This is Kalenić
market, in the middle of Belgrade. It is my mothers favourite place to shop for
fruits and vegetables. And I understand why, it’s a very lively place!
These
dried peppers are something I discovered recently. They are pretty common in Serbian
cuisine but since my family lived for so long in Croatia I wasn’t brought up
with them. They are, however, delicious-usually stuffed with beans, rice or cabbage.
I try not
to eat meat as often, in fact I eat meat maybe once or twice a week. And going
to the market gives me ideas and inspiration. It’s also hard to stop myself
when everything looks so good!
