Late dinner

Before dinner we took a walk by the lake. This city is just as romantic in the evenings. No harsh evening lamps, deep black almost silky lake, few sparkling lights up in the mountains...

For the most part I like routine but I also love this holiday life where you do as you feel. For example eat dinner too late :)

Lake fish with vegetables as a starter was delicious, served cold with light vinegar taste.

This was my first time trying handkerchief pasta, very delicate and light.

On the way home.

Shopping

Another grey day in Como, perfect for strolling the streets and window shopping.

Maybe more than just window shopping :) How autumnal and cosy?! I had to contain myself from buying everything in this store! In the end I got a couple of things but what made me most happy is marron glacé which I love to use in my marängsviss.

Just before dinner sun kind of came through the clouds.

For dinner I chose paccheri with sea food. First time I had this kind of pasta was in Amalfi and then it was served with fish. It is my favorite kind of pasta, quick to make and beautiful on a plate!  Here is my recipe.

Grey day

These cobblestone streets, hidden alleys, romantic windows are part of the enjoyment of being in Italy.

We stumbled upon Basilica di San Fedele..

...beautiful old church. I very much enjoy this kind of middle age architecture. Soft lines, details, colours...so romantic!

Inside was equally interesting. Very low light made all he colors stand out even more, frescos and statues looked almost mystical.

First day in Como

As I wrote about before  I love to plan trips and how I longed for this one! I planned it in detail, as I usually do, so I could barely wait for everything to come. I always try to spend as little as possible on a hotel so with no big expectations I was surprised with the one we chose. It was located in a quite residential area, a couple of minutes from the city center.

After half a day spent on a plane to Milano then train to Como we spent some time at a hotel to freshen up. Then we went out for a walk in our area.

There is so much I enjoy here! I look forward to taking a lot of pictures of beautiful architecture and I hope you enjoy it as well!

First gelato, pistachio and haselnut-one of my favourite flavours.

On the way to the city center.

Waiting for the sunset and the chilly night to come...

...then we had dinner at Ristorante Rino. As a starter we had porcini muschrom pasta, cold cuts and foie gras(wich normaly I never would order if I knew it was part of the dish). But what we enjoyed the most was creamy yet light risotto with earthy and seductive fraigrant black truffles. I would travel back here only to have one more plate to enjoy!
