Late dinner

Another lazy day...apart from cooking I didn’t do much.. I made moussaka which is one of my favourite serbian dishes. It’s easy to make and since it’s subtle in flavour it goes well with pickles or very vinegary cabbage salad. Now I look forward to watching movies and cuddling the rest of the day. Have a happy Easter!

Moussaka

Ingredients

1kg potatoes
450gr minced meat
3 eggs
250gr crème fraiche/sour cream
350gr milk
3 garlic cloves
Couple of tbsp of olive oil
Parsley dried or fresh
Chilli or grill spice optional
Salt
Pepper

Process

Peal then cut the potatoes into roughly equally thick slices.
Season the potatoes with salt, pepper and parsley.
Heat up to a medium heat some olive oil. Stir in the meat until the released water evaporates. Season with finely chopped garlic, salt, pepper and chilli or grill spice.
Combine egg, crème fresh and milk then season it with salt and pepper.
In an oven dish with high sides layer in this order: potatoes, meat, sauce, potatoes, sauce. Sauce should come up to level the top layer of the potatoes.
Bake on 180° for around 45min or until the top is light brown and the potatoes are cooked through.
Serve with some pickles or cabbage salad.
